Yoga Teacher Training FAQ's

The SVL Method™ is our signature four-pillar system that integrates authentic Rishikesh lineage, modern embodiment practices, breathwork and holistic healing wisdom delivering a multidimensional, deeply transformative experience found in very few YTTs worldwide.

  • Do I need to be an "advanced" yogi or super flexible to join?
Absolutely not. At SVL, we value presence over performance. Yoga is about the internal experience, not the external shape. Our trainings are designed to meet you exactly where you are, whether you’ve been practicing for years or are just beginning to dive deep.

  • I don’t necessarily want to teach; can I still do the TTC?
Yes. About 40% of our students join for personal transformation, inner healing, and a deeper understanding of the yogic lifestyle. The SVL Method™ is a journey of self-discovery first.

The SVL Hybrid YTT combines the flexibility of online learning with the power of a physical immersion in Rishikesh or Bali. It’s designed to fit your life, not disrupt it.

The 3-Step Journey

  1. Online Roots (Theory): Start with self-paced course modules. You have one full year to complete this at your own speed, before or after the in person immersion.

  2. In-Person Immersion (Embodiment): A 10-day intensive (7 or 10 day options available) focused on holistic practices, asana labs, hands-on adjustments, teaching workshops and inner work in a small, intimate group setting (max 8).

  3. Certification (Practical): Graduate via open-book reflection assignments and a video teaching submission (within 1 year) to earn your globally recognized Yoga Alliance accredited certification.

The Bottom Line: You get an authentic, embodied experience without the "exam anxiety" or the need to take a full month away from work and family.

  • Is SVL Yoga registered with Yoga Alliance?
Yes. SVL Yoga is a Registered Yoga School (RYS). Upon successful completion, you will receive a lifetime valid certification that enables you to register as an RYT-200/300/500 with Yoga Alliance, which is recognized globally.

  • Will I be confident enough to teach after just 10 days of immersion?
Yes, because the 10 days are focused on practical application. We spend our time on practices, asana labs, sequencing, and teaching workshops. You leave prepared with knowledge, tools and confidence to lead a holistic yoga class.

  • What styles of yoga will I be certified to teach?
Our curriculum is based on The SVL Method. You will be equipped with skills and knowledge to teach multi-style yoga , holistic healing modalities, breathwork and embodied practices as multi-dimensional yoga teacher.

    • What is included in the in-person immersion package?
Typically, your program fee includes your comfortable accommodation, nutritious vegetarian/vegan meals (depening upon package selected) , training materials, and local excursions.

  • Are Rishikesh/Bali safe for solo female travelers?
Both Rishikesh (the World Capital of Yoga) and Bali (the Island of the Gods) stand as two of the world’s most welcoming and safest destinations for solo travelers, yoga and spiritual seekers. Our trainings are organised in quiet haven within these vibrant hubs, where your comfort is our priority. To honor your ease and safety, we ensure you feel at home and fully supported from the very first day by providing expert local insights.

    • How do I pay, and are there installment plans?
To secure your spot, a $400 non-refundable deposit is required. The remaining balance can be paid leading up to 30 days before your immersion start date.

      • What is your cancellation policy?
        • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled. Booking can be shifted to a later date subject to approval from school and availability if informed 2 months before arrival.

        • The rest of the payment should be paid 4 weeks before arrival.

        • What is the "Self-Paced" timeline?

You have 12 months of access to the online portal. Most students complete the entire certification within 3 to 6 months, but you can go as fast or as slow as you need

Yoga & Surf Retreat FAQ's

Where is the retreat hosted?

Our Surf & Yoga Retreat takes place in Uluwatu, Bali, a stunning coastal region known for its dramatic cliffs, pristine beaches, and world-class surf breaks. The retreat venue offers a peaceful environment close to nature while remaining accessible to nearby beaches, temples, and cultural attractions.

Why is Uluwatu one of the best destinations for a surf and yoga retreat?

Uluwatu is renowned for its consistent surf, breathtaking ocean views, and relaxed atmosphere. The combination of powerful ocean energy and serene landscapes makes it an ideal setting for both surfing and yoga practice.

When is the best time to attend a surf and yoga retreat in Uluwatu?

The best surf season is typically May to September , during Bali’s dry season when waves are most consistent. However, retreats run year-round and each season offers a unique experience of Bali’s natural beauty.

Do I need prior surfing experience?

Not at all. Our surf sessions are designed for all experience levels. Whether you’re stepping onto a board for the first time or looking to refine your skills, our experienced instructors ensure you are surfing in conditions suitable for your level.

What type of yoga will be practiced?

The retreat includes a combination of Hatha, Vinyasa, and yin yoga, along with meditation and breathwork. These practices complement surfing by improving flexibility, strength, balance, and recovery.

I’ve never experienced sound healing before. What should I expect?

Sound healing is a deeply relaxing experience where participants lie comfortably while the vibrations of singing bowls and instruments create soothing sound waves. This practice helps calm the mind, release tension, and support deep relaxation.
